What Makes Good Club Governance?

Good governance of your club includes the following:
Apart from this your club board should know what your legal structure is and ask if it is the most effective for you. Is it an incorporated association, a co-operative or a company limited by guarantee? What are the pos and cons of each type?
What are the skill levels of our current directors and how do we get people to nominate who have those missing skills? Do we pay our directors/committee members or only have volunteers? Will paying a nominal fee attract more people to stand for election to cover their time and liability?
If you want good governance at your club, perhaps consider the list above and make sure you have all of them working well or fix it. Your members deserve it, and the law demands it.
